The Lower Mountains Neighbourhood Centre (LMNC) was thrilled to receive advice from the Minister for Fair Trading, the Hon. Virginia Judge MP, that we were successful in securing funding of $10,685 per year for the next two years to administer NILS® for residents of the Lower Mountains, starting from 1 July 2009.

After an unsuccessful application last year, LMNC is particularly grateful to the Member for Blue Mountains, Mr Phil Koperberg, for his strong representations on behalf of NILS® in the Blue Mountains, not only for LMNC but also for Mid-Mountains Neighbourhood Centre and Blackheath Area Neighbourhood Centre.

The Chair of LMNC, Warwick Fuller, said that ‘LMNC is delighted to have achieved such a fantastic result. This administration funding will enable us to adequately promote and manage NILS® to support the needs of low-income residents in the Lower Mountains to purchase essential household items or vital medical goods and services.  NILS® is an important service that benefits people when they need it most, and we thank the NSW Government for its funding boost to the NILS® program.’

LMNC would also like to thank the Member for Penrith, Ms Karyn Paluzzano, for her support in achieving this successful outcome, as her responsibilities extend to the residents of some suburbs of the lower mountains.

For a NILS® information pack, please call LMNC on (02) 4739 1164 or email admin@lmnc.org.au [1]
